Say Hello To Beautiful Skin!  |  September 2005

Hello Beautiful!

Chelsea here, with another issue of Chellá Insight, designed to help you discover and enhance your beauty -- inside and out! I've said it before: truly beautiful women have a certain glow that comes from a positive and healthy outlook on life. (In fact, farther down in this issue you'll find an interesting discussion on our feelings about those ultra-lovely women.)

So read on for tips on cultivating that inner glow. This month, you'll find trends on beauty, fashion, and inner excellence, plus our usual focus -- and dollar discount! -- on a featured Chellá product.

If there are products you'd like to see Chellá develop, or if you have suggestions on ways we can improve, tell me.

Thanks for reading!
Chelsea.

PS: Great news! Chellá Professional Skin Care is proud to announce that Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills will begin carrying the complete Chellá Anti-Aging line starting this month. If you're in Beverly Hills, stop in and say hello. Tell them Chelsea sent you and pick up a free sample of our Micro-Exfoliating Cleanser.

FAQ: How can I make my skin look younger?

If I was forced to pick a favorite Chellá product, this may just be the one. You use it before bedtime and in your morning shower to gently wash away make-up and dirt, and to exfoliate dead skin. It's smooth and soft-feeling, with a wonderfully refreshing sloughing agent that helps stimulate the growth of radiant, healthy new skin.

The Micro-Exfoliating Cleanser:

  • Exfoliates and washes away dead skin cells
  • Reduces acne and other imperfections without irritating
  • Reduces signs of aging
  • Leaves skin feeling softer and looking smoother

It's formulated for all skin types, including dry, normal, and oily, and it's mild enough to use twice a day. And it's all natural, with ingredients such as willowbark extract, jojoba, apple fruit extract, lemon extract, and meadow-sweet flower extract. (Yes, it smells great.)

Using the Micro-Exfoliating Cleanser is my favorite part of my morning skin-care regime. It feels that good.

For a limited time only, we invite you to try our Micro-Exfoliating Cleanser for the unbelievable price of $19.95. That's $10 off the price paid by people that don't read Chellá Insight!

Beautiful People Do Beautiful Things

At Chellá, we believe that when we work together, we can achieve beautiful things. That's why we've made it a point to work with organizations like the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Chellá has set up ways for these organizations to raise money by selling Chellá products. Here's how it works: We give 20% of every sale made through these two organizations back to the organizations. Simple, right?

If you'd like a portion of your Chellá purchase to go to one of these organizations, visit Donate 20% to Diabetes, or Donate 20% to Leukemia & Lymphoma.

Do you do something beautiful for your community? Tell us about it!

It's Not Just You

Gal-pal crushes. Most of us have had them. We meet a woman brimming over with inner and outer loveliness, with glamour and style and all-around chic. She's so impossibly with-it that we almost fall in love. We may even grow tongue-tied around her, or experience puppy love-like jitters.

True love? More likely, it's what women in their twenties and thirties are calling girl-crushes: feelings of infatuation that one woman gets for another.

"Girl crushes are as natural as any other kind of love," said Dr. Fisher, author of "Why We Love: The Nature and Chemistry of Romantic Love," in a recent New York Times article. "They are romantic without being sexual."

Chelsea's In & Out

Here's my list of the trends I've noticed in fashion, beauty, and the world in general. Take it or leave it: remember, gang, individuality is always "in."

In:

1. Self-improvement
I'm not talking about the self-help book craze of the nineties. Self-improvement today looks less like reading about becoming a better person and more like actually being a better person.

Women are taking on a variety of tasks to improve their lives and become happier and more fulfilled. We're taking karate lessons. We're going back to school to study psychology and finance and interior design. We're learning skills that we wished we had learned in our twenties (personally, I'm learning to manage a budget and balance my checkbook -- long overdue, I know).

Give yourself a goal, pick a project you've always wanted to take on, and go for it.

2. Black is back
In recent years, we've heard the phrase, "Pink is the new black." This year, it looks like black may be the new black -- but your best blacks won't be tailored and fitted this season. Rather, recent trends dictate that black will bring a welcome, cozy, sensual aspect to fashion. Look for faux fur trim, velvet, and cashmeres to cuddle in.

3. Oh my gosh, gauchos
Believe it or not, gauchos -- cropped like capris, wide in the leg -- are actually back in style. What's next, buttoned-at-the-knee knickers?

Out:

1. Reality shows
Yes, there are a few we still want to watch (which one of us won't secretly be tuning in to Martha's new The Apprentice?), but summer television ratings indicate that the glut of reality shows about every topic imaginable looks to be slowing down. Thank goodness for that, I say. Do we really need more inside looks at the lives of aging celebrities?

2. "Boho"
Short for "bohemian," the boho look means lots of layers, clunky jewelry, flowing skirts, flaring and fringe, and lots of embellishment. Kids can go head-to-toe in it. For us, though, all-over boho is out. A touch or two -- embroidered sandals or an ethnic tunic -- can go a long way.

3. Dark make-up
What used to be seen as mysterious -- shades of brown or purple in eye shadow, blush, and lipstick -- now just seems overdone. Dark lipstick (red, mainly) can still be okay. Otherwise, keep it light, keep it simple.

Focus on: Chell-x Complex

The cosmetic experts responsible for Chellá have a simple philosophy: to repair and restore the skin by naturally nourishing and stimulating skin cells.

It sounds simple, but many manufacturers of skin care products don’t focus on natural ingredients because chemicals are easier and less time consuming to produce.

Chell-x Complex is what separates Chellá from other manufacturers of skin care products. A combination of the finest peptides, all natural botanicals, vitamins and antioxidants, Chell-x Complex is an amazing anti-aging, anti-wrinkle formulation...more.
