Eye BeautyFacial beauty begins with beautiful eyes. Our eyes may be the windows to the soul, but sooner or later, we all learn that there is no area of the face more vulnerable to aging than the area around the eyes. Fine wrinkles, puffy skin and discoloration occur around the eyes, making the rest of the face look aged and unhealthy. Because the area around the eyes is so thin, it’s not only more vulnerable to damage, it’s the first place we begin to notice changes.

According to Dennis Gross, M.D., clinician at New York University Medical Center and author of “Your Future Face”, an effective eye cream should be one of the essential topicals in any anti-aging skin care regimen. Most lotions or moisturizers will not replace eye cream; they are merely an effective way to reduce dry skin. You should find and use a product that contains active anti-aging ingredients and one that does not add unnecessary oils to the skin which may cause pores to become blocked.

The three main problems that a great eye cream should treat are dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. An effective eye cream must be able to strengthen eyelid blood vessels, smooth, firm, and delay skin cell aging; improve appearance of eyelid wrinkles and fine lines.

Because of the potential for the product to enter the eye, most eye creams go through rigorous safety testing. No eye cream should cause burning, watering or stinging in the eye. If you experience these types of symptoms, discontinue use immediately. The belief that the more eye cream applied, the better the product works and the faster the results are seen is false. It is important to use the amount directed on the product’s label and follow application directions.

As you mature, your eyes are affected by crow’s feet, wrinkles, lines and dark spots. The best eye creams can prevent, maintain and rejuvenate the delicate skin surrounding these unique and beautiful areas of your face. So, open those windows wide and let your beauty be seen in them.
