Newsflash: Chellá Beauty Team Update

Last month we sent some members of our Beauty Team samples of our brand new Chellá Enzyme Formula Exfoliating Crema Mask. This crema mask contains a combination of nourishing botanicals and vitamins and self-regulating lactic acid enzymes that exfoliate dead cells and excess sebum from the skin, and encourage cell turnover for radiant, more even toned and younger looking skin. Our Beauty Team is testing a formulation containing a 4.5% solution of lactic acid and will determine if this is the right strength for our “at home” customers. Chellá is also developing a professional strength formulation to be used in Spas and by Estheticians and is the result of 6 months of extensive testing by skin care professionals. From The Heart: Lucky Me!

Each March, I begin to wonder just how much of the Luck of the Irish I actually have. Sometimes I even calculate how much Irish blood I really own and try to do the math to figure out my Luck Level. Of course, these calculations are based entirely on The Chelsea Calculation table and are open to huge result swings. Everyone knows that “you make your own luck”. We’ve been told that from kindergarten on, but sometimes I wonder if there isn’t some Leprechaun-y entity that determines how lucky we are. Yes, I pick up the penny and expect to have a day filled with luck, but when I find that perfect parking space 10 minutes later, did I create that or was it that sole penny sitting in my jeans pocket? I prefer to believe that there is a pot of gold at the rainbow’s edge and I firmly believe that you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince (more on that another time) but I also know that the choices I make in my life really do determine much of my destiny. I also know that barges put green dye into the Chicago River the night before St. Patrick’s Day. I really do know that.. but every St. Patty’s Day, you’ll find me watching for that leprechaun to cross my path and bless me with a day filled with smiles!

Speaking Of Spas: Essentiels Spa

Once again, Chellá’s Regional Sales Manager Sandra Sparks has found another outstanding spa to showcase the Chellá line of anti-aging skin care products. Essentiels Spa in Bakersfield, California is a very beautiful and busy spa and salon proudly run by owners DeeDee Swanson and Gail Fussy. DeeDee and Gail personally pay attention to their customers the moment they walk in and match them up with just the right treatment and skin care professional. Beautiful Ingredients: Lactic Acid

Starting this month, I wanted to talk a little about the amazing ingredients we use in our Chellá products. I promise to keep the information light so you won’t have to take your high school science book out of the closet, but our ingredients are so special, I just have to share!

As I mentioned in Beauty Team News above, we are bringing a new Enzyme Formula Crema Mask to market and I thought this would be a good time to tell you a little about lactic acid and how it works in our new mask.

I had always thought lactic acid was that stuff that made my thighs burn when I ran for a bus, but when used cosmetically, it becomes a commonly used exfoliator. In a nutshell, lactic acid, a member of the Alpha Hydroxy family, is derived from milk and when fermented, becomes a powerful but gentle exfoliating ingredient. It is said the use of lactic acid goes all the way back to Cleopatra who bathed in sour milk. Because lactic acid is a naturally occurring human metabolite, there is much lower chance of allergic reaction using this type exfoliation and is an excellent ingredient for those with sensitive skin, rosecea or acne.
