Understanding the framework for beautiful skin: COLLAGEN

Filed Under Skin Care Articles, Skin Care Tips |

We all get them … those fine lines and outright wrinkles that seem to show up almost overnight. But how did they sneak up on us like that? In this first of a series of articles on understanding your skin and ways to keep it beautiful, I am going to explain the effect collagen has on creating, and more importantly getting rid of, fine lines and wrinkles.

Collagen is a fibrous protein which provides a structural framework for both soft and calcified connective tissues. The word collagen comes from the Greek and means “glue producing”. In layman’s terms, that means collagen acts as a scaffolding for our body’s cells, connecting them together and controlling cell shape.

In the skin, collagen gives the skin its strength and durability and is responsible for the smooth, plump appearance of young, healthy skin. Collagen makes up 75 percent of our skin and so the breakdown of healthy collagen and the decline in collagen production leads to the development of unwanted wrinkles and the appearance of aged skin.

Injections of collagen into the skin are superficial and temporary ways to replace damaged collagen in an effort to “re-plump” the skin and remove wrinkles.

Protecting the healthy collagen you currently have is the best way to maintain a healthy, youthful looking appearance and prevent future collagen degradation. There are two main enemies of healthy collagen -UVA and UVB exposure and free radical damage from UV light, ozone, pollution, and cigarette smoke.

An important step in maintaining healthy skin is supplementing your daily skin care regimen with collagen stimulating peptides. This is an additional way to boost the collagen make-up of your skin cells. Fibroblasts produce other skin structural proteins such as elastin and naturally stimulate the synthesis of collagen when specific combinations of peptide molecules signal your skin cells to bind to receptor sites on the fibroblast membrane creating new and stronger collagen. These peptides can be supplemented topically to help boost collagen production.

Using a daily moisturizer with adequate sunscreen as well as peptides and incorporating antioxidants into your diet as well as topically in your moisturizer will improve your efforts to maintain and recapture healthy collagen and guarantee beautiful skin.

How Does Chellá Work in this Collagen Framework?

Chellá developed a 3 step approach to skin care. The key to that approach is the Chell-x Complex. This is one of the most scientifically advanced beauty formulations ever developed. It is both nourishing and safe for skin but powerful enough to deliver real results:

First, we use peptides to penetrate into the skin and stimulate your existing collagen and elastin. These peptides send signals deep within your skin and activate the cells to start producing more collagen and elastin.

Second, we use all natural botanicals and vitamins to feed and nourish the skin. (For example, our scientifically advanced fat soluble liposomes deliver vitamins A, B-5, C & E directly into the skin. The liposomes penetrate into the basal skin cells where the body’s fat molecules reside. Those fat cells dissolve the liposomes and the vitamins are then delivered directly to the collagen cells as nourishment).

Third, we use a powerful combination of three antioxidants- green tea, grape seed extract and pomegranate to protect and defend the skin as they neutralize free radical cancer causing cells and prevent them from forming

The following Chellá products all contain our Chell-x Complex:

Each person’s needs are truly unique to themselves. Vitamin supplements can be a wonderful addition to your daily routine for many general health purposes as well as addressing skin issues. At Chella, we formulate all our cremas, as well as many of our other products, with vitamins in additon to anti-oxidants and botanicals to enhance our products’ ability to be more effective in the battle against fine lines and wrinkles.
